Frantoio Agostini
To fully understand the idea that guides us, the Frantoio Agostini people, you should consider our origins. The Agostini family has been making a living from agriculture for more than a century, moving from grain farming and other crops typical of The Marches inland, to the production, as far back as in 1945, of Extra Virgin Olive Oil. From this symbiosis with the land, its products, the many difficulties and the many satisfactions that they bring, brought about the profound respect that we have for this product and this job.
Over the years, our ever-growing dedication to olive oil has made us continue in this direction on the basis of three key guiding principles: Quality (1), Sustainability (2) and Innovation with an absolute respect for our Land (3).
Our Frantoio has grown in accordance with this ideology, and we have done the same. We have imposed the strictest of Quality standards, as can be seen from the numerous awards that we have achieved. We continue to innovate and improve our production methods (by way of an example, the conservation and the bottling system which takes place completely under inert gas). Moreover, we never stopped thinking of the Economic Sustainability of our products. By continually offering the best quality at competitive prices, convinced, today more than ever, by the fact that the pleasure of good food and healthy eating cannot and must not become a luxury.
On these bases over the years, we have embarked upon an Enterprise Project. An enterprise that ensures a focus on Sustainability and Biodiversity as they deserve. With the firm conviction that the Land, its welfare and, consequently, ours as well, will become the primary interest of our society in the future. Consequently, we have in mind an enterprise based on dignity. Dignity of the Products, of the People and of the Land. An enterprise that knows how to look at the future with optimism and to dream in the manner that we do.
Once we achieved this awareness, we proceeded towards Quality and Innovation and considered the concept of Sustainability in greater depth: which is not only Economical and look at our clients, but it also has to become Environmental Sustainability and look at the Land as well.
We have we have begun to implement this idea by starting the production of Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Its application for certification was made 17 years ago, in 1999, and was promptly acknowledged in 2002 after the three canonical years of assessment. Anyway our project could not stop here.
In fact, our main concern was to pursue our ultimate aim and minimize the environmental impact of FRANTOIO.
In 2010 we, therefore, decided to abandon the old energy supply systems and focus on Renewable Energy, by investing in a solar energy panel system on the roof of Frantoio. Hence we chose, with the necessary sense of responsibility, to use renewable energy without needlessly occupying green space. This also allowed us to become completely energy-independent, while
reducing close to zero carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions resulting from the use of the traditional energy supply systems.
At that point we looked at the issue of the disposal of the waste products. In 2012 we therefore decided to make a step further in the minimization of the environmental impact with an installation which extracts the “Olive pit granules” from the processing waste. A 100% natural and ecological biomass fuel. In this way we are now able to recover an important and optimal natural source of energy which is usually thrown away and wasted.
“At present we know that there are still many challenges, which are harder than ever, to face and overcome, in order to fully realize the full potential of our Enterprise Project. However, we believe that sometimes we can look back and be proud of what we have already managed to achieve with such humility and with a spirit of self-sacrifice. And this can only make us continue to look toward the future with optimism and to dream of a healthy and totally environmentally friendly Agriculture system.”
