We are happy to announce the 2nd edition of the JOOP DESIGN AWARD as part of the 9th edition of JOOP.

Starting from 2020 along with the qualitative awards the competition decided to award also producers who have committed with passion in communicating the identity of their product through the logo, the bottling and the packaging: all very important details in a market like the Japanese one. This award wishes to bring to the attention of producers the importance of paring a good product with an appealing brand identity.

The panel of the jury for the 2nd JOOP DESIGN AWARD is comprised of some of the most prestigious names in the field of design and architecture from the most represented countries of the competition and the hosting one.

FABIO NOVEMBRE

 ITALY

For over twenty years Fabio has been working in various fields of design: architecture, interiors, product and graphic design. His Novembre Studio has collaborated for the most important Italian and international brands. Fabio Novembre is also Artistic Director of Driade, Scientific Director of Domus Academy and member of the scientific committee of the Triennale di Milano.

FUMIE SHIBATA

JAPAN

After graduating from the Musashino Art University, she worked at a large electrical goods manufacturer and then founded Design Studio S. She has received among others the iF Gold Award, and the Design for Asia Top, Culture, and Gold Awards. Works as Professor of Musashino Art University and Judging Committee Chair of the 2018-2019 Good Design Awards. Author of the book ‘Forms within Forms.’

Loukas & Vasso - STUDIOLAV

GREECE

STUDIOLAV is a London based studio, founded by Loukas Angelou and Vasso Asfi, offering product and interior design services. The use of narrative is central to our work, which often focuses on the emotional connection between people, objects and their environment. We draw inspiration from heritage, tradition and everyday encounters to create and tell new exciting stories through our work. Our approach is detail and material focused and the final product simple but rich in context.

YASUHIKO TSUCHIDA

 JAPAN

The only Japanese glass artist to run an atelier in Murano, Venice.
Most of his work revolves around glass, but also includes oil paintings and video art. He is noted for the presence of strong messages, concepts, and philosophy that invariably comprise the foundations of his every creation. He has been nicknamed as “The poet of glass”. More recently, he has become known for his work in various domains such as writing, food, architecture, film, fashion, music, as well as collaborative work with creators.

CONSTANTINOS HOURSOGLOU

GREECE

Constantinos has worked for Minalle Tatersfield in London, in New York for Ayse Birsel, and for Karim Rashid as a Design Director for clients such as Sony, Prada, Issey Miyake, Tommy Hilfiger, and Guzzini. His work has been featured in international publications such as Young European Designers, Product Design Now, and Star Industrial Designers, and he has received wide exposure in the Greek and international press (Interni, Area, Domus, Vogue, ID magazine, among others).

MARC ATLAN

 USA

Marc Atlan is a Los Angeles-based creative director whose award-winning work for clients such as Comme des Garçons, Helmut Lang, Yves Saint Laurent, Dior and James Perse has been described as “subversive chic minimalism”. He conceptualizes and designs perfume & beauty packagings, advertising campaigns & catalogues as well as logos & brand identities.

KARIM RASHID

USA

Over 4000 designs in production, over 300 awards and working in over 35 countries attest to Karim’s legend of design. His award-winning designs include democratic objects such as the ubiquitous Garbo waste can and Oh Chair for Umbra, interiors such as the Morimoto restaurant, Philadelphia and Semiramis hotel, Athens. Winner of the Red Dot award, Chicago Athenaeum Good Design award, I.D. Magazine Annual Design Review, IDSA Industrial Design Excellence Award.

ADRIAN GERALNIK

 SPAIN

Adrian studied at the Escuela Superior de Hostelería de Barcelona (Barcelona School of Hospitality) and at GrisArt, an International Photography school. After going progressively through various different work, studies and experiences in Barcelona, he has managed to merge both of these areas into Food Styling. Projects like “Casi Crudo”, “La Cocina Catalan al Desnudo” and “Animal” all showcase Adrian’s professional perspective, nourished by a deep aesthetic sensibility, and developed by his work in the art of photography.
