About Mnazuru Olive

Manazuru Olive The Thousand-Year Forest

The Manazuru Olive is a visionary project that looks a thousand years into Manazuru’s future, transforming 8,925 square meters of historic mandarin orange groves into a flourishing olive garden.

The site is conveniently located just a five-minute walk from JR Manazuru Station in Kanagawa Prefecture. It is a place of breathtaking scenic beauty, offering a panoramic view of the entire Manazuru Peninsula. Here, we are currently landscaping a one-of-a-kind olive garden by transplanting olive trees that have been carefully nurtured for over 20 years in Nezu, Tokyo.

The Manazuru Peninsula, blessed with ample sunlight and a mild climate, has long been a thriving center for mandarin cultivation. However, due to an aging population and other factors, the amount of abandoned farmland has increased, making environmental conservation a pressing issue.

Our ultimate goal is to expand the olive groves across the entire peninsula, realizing a landscape of thousand-year-old olive trees similar to those found along the Italian coast.
