Description

Hand-Harvested Domestic Blend
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
(Tadotsu, Kagawa Prefecture, Japan)
■ Characteristics of the Production Area
Our olives are cultivated in Tadotsu Town, Kagawa Prefecture, facing the Seto Inland Sea.
This region is also well known as a major production area for Delaware grapes, a small red variety prized for its quality. The gently sloping hills with excellent drainage, combined with a warm climate and low annual rainfall, create ideal conditions for growing high-quality fruit.
These same environmental characteristics make the area well suited for olive cultivation. With abundant sunshine throughout the year and a climate reminiscent of the Mediterranean coast, Tadotsu provides one of the most suitable environments for olive growing in Japan.
Olive cultivation in this area began in 2009. Today, approximately 50 producers are involved, with nearly 5,000 olive trees planted across the region.
■ Raw Materials and Harvesting Method
All olives are carefully hand-harvested to avoid damage to the fruit. Harvesting focuses primarily on early-ripening olives (ripeness level 2–3).
After harvesting, only carefully selected, high-quality olives are used. The fruit is transported to the processing facility and cold-extracted within 24 hours using state-of-the-art milling equipment to preserve freshness and aroma.
■ Product Overview
This olive oil is a blend of four varieties cultivated by members of the Tadotsu Olive Producers Cooperative: Mission, Lucca, Picual, and Nevadillo Blanco.

Mission offers a fresh, fruity profile with subtle grassy notes.
Lucca contributes a gentle sweetness with a soft, vanilla-like aroma.
Picual has milder bitterness and pungency compared to Mission, adding depth and complexity when blended.
Nevadillo Blanco delivers layered bitterness and pungency that gradually emerge on the palate, creating a lingering finish.

Together, these varieties create a well-balanced olive oil with vibrant green aromas, gentle pungency, and a pleasant, delicate bitterness.
The result is a highly versatile extra virgin olive oil suitable for a wide range of culinary applications.
