About TENUTA DELLA CONTEA
What was once the hunting lodge of the Rossi Cardillo family — miraculously spared by the lava flow that destroyed Mascali in 1928 — had been transformed into a farmhouse nestled within the citrus grove.
The traces of the ancient vineyards and the palmenti, where large quantities of wine were once produced, were far too evident to be ignored.
The Micali family acquired the estate at the beginning of the current millennium and, after a few years, made the decision to restore the manor house to its former splendor. Later, they chose to repopulate the uncultivated lands and the now unproductive citrus groves with vineyards and olive trees.
Today, their children, Marzia and Massimiliano — though currently residing outside Sicily — manage the estate with dedication, further enriching the existing olive heritage by incorporating a neighboring olive grove of approximately 2,000 trees.
