OLIO BARDI SOCIETÀ SEMPLICE AGRICOLA
About OLIO BARDI SOCIETÀ SEMPLICE AGRICOLA
Olio Bardi was founded in the early 2000s almost by chance, driven by the passion of Franco Bardi.
Our company is located in Petroio, in the municipality of Trequanda, at 470 meters above sea level, overlooking the stunning Val d’Orcia. Here, the stony soil and the ideal climate allow us to produce an extra virgin olive oil of the highest quality.
We mainly cultivate prized olive varieties such as Leccino, Frantoio, Moraiolo, Olivastra, Correggiolo, Pendolino, and Maurino, carefully selected to best express the unique character of our territory.
In the beginning, the farm had about one thousand olive trees in production, and the oil was intended exclusively for family consumption. The turning point came in 2004, when the founder entered a regional competition for the first time and won first prize. This recognition inspired the decision to transform a family tradition into a quality-driven production business, focused on excellence and continuous improvement.
Today, the company manages approximately 10,000 olive trees, both owned and leased. Although it is a relatively young enterprise, Olio Bardi is already present in several international markets, with a growing export activity that reflects the recognition of the quality and authenticity of our product.
Our olive harvest season begins in the early days of October and ends around mid-November.
Harvesting is concentrated within a short period to preserve the optimal ripeness of the olives and ensure a product of the highest quality.
Our oil stands out for its bold yet harmonious sensory profile: an intense bitterness, a well-balanced pungency, and fresh herbaceous notes with delicate hints of artichoke and green almond, characteristics that make the Olio Bardi brand distinctive and highly appreciated.
Olives are harvested by hand, with the support of mechanical aids, to preserve the integrity of the fruit and guarantee maximum quality.
The olives collected each day are delivered to the on-site mill, located within the estate, where they are processed within 8–12 hours of harvesting, in order to preserve all their organoleptic properties.
The oil is extracted using a continuous-cycle system through a cold mechanical process (at temperatures below 27°C). It is then stored in the warehouse adjacent to the mill under optimal conditions, before being bottled and marketed both through the company’s direct sales point and via direct shipment to customers.
